125 mm 4×31YZ gyro family
The separate 125 mm development module uses a documented ideal local shaft ratio of about 2.6163:1. Reference points include about 1,338 rpm local input for about 3,500 rpm at the 31YZ shaft and about 1,530 rpm local input for about 4,000 rpm at the 31YZ shaft. The carrier's own orbital RPM is a separate measurement.
Large-radius gyro scale studies
The 70 cm, 100 cm and 130 cm options are concept scale studies showing how distance from the centre changes rotational inertia and radial loading. They are treated as gyro diameters, giving nominal radii of 0.35 m, 0.50 m and 0.65 m.
| Gyro diameter | Nominal radius | Relative inertia* | Relative radial load* |
|---|---|---|---|
| 70 cm | 0.35 m | 1.00× | 1.00× |
| 100 cm | 0.50 m | 2.04× | 1.43× |
| 130 cm | 0.65 m | 3.45× | 1.86× |
*For the same rotating mass distribution and the same RPM, using the usual point-mass radius relationships. Larger radius can store more rotational energy and resist short speed changes more strongly, which may help smooth a handover/repeat cycle, but it also takes more energy to accelerate and increases structural and bearing loads. It does not create extra energy.
31YZ shaft RPM is set by the drive ratio, not by gyro diameter alone. The 70/100/130 cm studies therefore do not claim a fixed generator-shaft speed until matching gearing and CAD are defined.
What the selected package is for
- Matching CAD/reference material where already supplied for that configuration.
- 31YZ speed, pulley and ratio calculations.
- Gyro-size / radius comparison and development notes.
- Belt-route, pulley-fit and build-reference material where available.
Development status: RPM values are prototype targets or calculated references, not certified motor ratings or guaranteed measured operating speeds. The 70/100/130 cm options are scale studies only until matching physical CAD and structural validation are completed.
Digital files only. Motors, bearings, belts, fasteners and electronics are not included.
